The swinging 16 sixties show It’s the swinging 1660’s. The war was finally over, the Government was relaxed, the Country was in a party mood, the people had never had it so good and King Charles II wants to have some fun. When Nell and her friends, from the local Bawdy house, join the new Drury Lane Theatre, Charles is delighted with their saucy songs and cheeky antics. Nell rises to stardom and she and Charles embark on one of the most infamous love stories. A whole army of Charladies and delectable 17th Century characters take us through the story of the affair that led to the Great Fire of London and the recovery from the plague; the jealousy and outrage of Charlie’s rejected women and to political jiggery-pokery. This hilarious rock and roll musical should make learning history a little more fun – even if all this only ‘probably’ happened. But then, anyone who claims to know it all can’t have been there! The Team The team was Tricia Richardson as Director and John Oglesby as Assistant Director. Jill Summerfield was Producer and Prompt. Julie Oglesby was Stage Manager, a Choreographer, Richard Fensome did the lights and Dave Turner the sound. This large cast Show in fact has 35 speaking parts but many of the smaller roles can be doubled if need be. |
